Photography Ideas: How To Use Triangles For Composition Posted By: Dave Trent

One great way to grow your photography proficiency is to begin a photography project. Most likely, you will want to choose an idea that will function as the basis for the project. One idea that you may want to try out is the use of triangles as a compositional technique.

Tips on how to Compose with Triangles

There are several compositional techniques from which a photographer can choose. Any time there are numerous objects in an image, the use of triangles is very effective as a composition technique. The technique involves composing an image in such a way that three or more objects form a triangle.

No less than three objects are required. This is because the objects must form the three points of the triangle. The sides of the triangle are formed by imaginary, diagonal lines that link the triangle points. This configuration produces a very dynamic photo. The diagonal lines serve to guide the viewer’s eyes. The viewer’s eyes go along the diagonals as they move from one triangle point to another. If there are more than three objects in the image, the additional objects will need to lie along the diagonal lines.

How To Set Up Your Studio With Strobe Equipment Posted By: Mark Etinger

In photography there are hot lights and cold lights. Hot lights are always on, and in turn, get incredibly hot. Cold lights are also known as strobe equipment, and are only on when the flash is executed. Strobe lights are often sought out for portrait work because they’re more comfortable for the subject, and easier for the photographer to set up. If you’d like to incorporate strobe equipment into your next photography project here are a few tips to do it successfully:

1) The first thing you should do is set up your subject in a light box that blocks off all ambient light you don’t want in the photograph. Think of those curtain stands that school portrait photographers use. Any unwanted light that is in the background or on either side of the subject, can alter the results of your photo. So when setting up your light box make sure it’s adequately blocking light from behind and beside the image.

2) Once your light box is officially set up and your subject is in the right place, you should then set up the camera and compose the subject in your viewfinder.

3) Next up is strobe equipment set up.

It does not have to be fabulous skin, a redesigned nose, pouting lips, amazing eyes. There must be some element or characteristic about the particular person that conveys her / his personality the best.Sound challenging? It’s not if you adhere to some basic tips.Compose Top to Bottom.Shift the camera on its side. A portrait in most cases incorporates the head and upper torso and occasionally the hands. Capturing The Special Moments Posted By: Tommy Greene

Photographs are visual representations of memories. These visual representations are very important to use.

We take many candid shots of places, people, and special moments so that we will be able to better remember the past. We also like to take formal pictures to remember landmarks in our and our loved ones lives.

For example, almost every high school senior has to take senior photos to hand out to their friends. Sweet sixteen, wedding, and graduation photos are also moments that many people believe need to be captured by the camera.

Whether candid or professional there are many tips that can help you capture these moments and the ones you loved better. The first thing that should be realized when taking formal portrait photographs is that portrait photography is very different from regular photography.

The purpose of portrait photography is to bring out and capture the ‘essence’ of the person you are photographing. A really good picture will say something about the person’s character, personality, and/or life.

In addition, the three most important physical things to keep in mind have to do with camera settings, lighting, and the relationship you have with the subject of the photo.
